Danville Mayor Renee Morgan is set to update the community on the town’s accomplishments and activities from the past year and highlight what residents can look forward to in the year ahead when she presents her State of the Town address Thursday afternoon.
The event, held during a Danville Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon Thursday, is set to run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Blackhawk Country Club at 599 Blackhawk Drive.
This will mark the first State of the Town address for Morgan, who was selected by her colleagues on the Town Council to serve as Danville’s mayor for 2017 — her first turn as mayor. Morgan has served on the council since 2012 and just started her second four-year term in December.
In addition to Morgan’s speech, the event will feature the chamber installing its new board of directors and presenting its annual Community Service Awards.
Categories include Business of the Year, Business Person of the Year, Charitable Organization of the Year, Citizen of the Year and Employee of the Year.
The luncheon, which cost $35 per person, was open to the public but is now sold out.
