The East Bay’s oldest foot race will once again take to the streets of Danville, starting at 8 a.m. Sunday. This will be the 39th anniversary of the Devil Mountain Run, started in 1978 as a benefit for Children’s Hospital in Oakland.

The Devil Mountain Run will feature a 5K and 10K run, a Kids Fun Run and Expo. Debuting this year will be the Mile of Truth, a one-mile race through Downtown Danville, starting at 9 a.m. and running in five separate heats.

Along with the human run, competitive runners and their speedy canine companions can participate in the Buddi Love Mile of Truth. Locals may remember that Buddi Love was the beloved shop dog at Forward Motion Sports, and her memory lives on in the Buddi Love Mile of Truth. Dogs must run on leash and be under full control of their owner. Only well socialized and leash friendly dogs are allowed. Please carry a bag to pick up after your dog. If you wish to walk your dog, register for the 5K.

Proceeds will benefit Discovery Counseling Center of the San Ramon Valley, which is dedicated to enhancing the well-being and quality of life for individuals and families.

Registration is $25-$42. The Kids Fun Run is free. Register at devilmtnrun.com
