San Ramon’s U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Dublin) and wife Brittany welcomed their first child on Thursday night with the birth of their son Nelson.

“Brittany & I welcome Nelson, born last night in CA. Mom & baby are healthy. We just adore him & he’s already seeking constituent services,” the congressman said Friday in a tweet announcing the birth.

The baby boy – whose formal name Eric Nelson Swalwell, but he’ll go by Nelson – was born around 9 p.m. Thursday in San Ramon, weighing in at seven pounds and 15 ounces, according to Swalwell’s office. Though he shares a first name with his father, young Nelson has a different middle name.

A 36-year-old Dublin native, Congressman Swalwell is in his third term representing the 15th District, which includes San Ramon, Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore, Union City, parts of Fremont, and the unincorporated areas of Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, Sunol, Ashland, Cherryland and Fairview.
