Danville police arrested a local woman for allegedly robbing a bank on Diablo Road while disguised with a painted-on beard Tuesday morning.
Jennifer Rae McClary, 36, of Danville has been booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of robbery and possession of a controlled substance, according to police chief Steve Simpkins.
The robbery occurred around 9:10 a.m. Tuesday when a person — later identified as McClary — walked into the Bank of the West branch at 307 Diablo Road and handed the teller a note demanding money, Simpkins said. No weapon was seen during the incident.
Police allege McClary used a painted on beard, sunglasses and ball cap to try to hide her identity during the robbery.
After absconding with an undisclosed amount of money, police allege McClary ran away from the building and was last seen going north on El Pintado Road near the Diablo Road intersection.
Subsequent investigation by Danville police detectives led to McClary’s apprehension, according to Simpkins. She was arrested several blocks from the bank on the 200 block of Valley Creek Lane at 12:20 p.m.

I find it unfortunate and hypocritical that when a person of color or from Oakland or even the “510” commits a crime in Danville, San Ramon, or any of the surrounding areas, there are a multitude of distasteful comments referencing that person’s race, ethinicity or city. Some have referenced skin color, others suggesting that we need to build a wall between “us and them”, and even others with downright hateful and disgusting name calling, much too ugly to repeat. And yet, when a white person from our own area commits a crime (a bank robbery nevertheless) the comments go silent. Where are the bigots now??
Ranae
Are your comments for real….? This is about a thief not a color…please stick to the subject about a robbery not a racial issue.
Thank you.
Maybe RW you should just judge people on what they do and not anything else. Hmmm?
QW, I think that’s exactly what RW is saying…to judge based on crime and not color. He’s just pointing out racial comments on a previous story.
Dead giveaway: her hat was on frontwards. What self-respecting male of that generation would commit such a fashion faux-pas?
QRP: I think that’s exactly what Ms Renae was requesting from the commentariat.
sorry, meant ‘we’ not ‘you’ in my comment above.
All to often the color, race, religion is first considered; when really, it should be actions first (and maybe only). and yeah, some confused troll will post how many of this or that color is currently jailed. It’s actions, still.
Rob a bank at 9:00 AM and get arrested at noon.
You are not very good at it. Maybe a new line of work is in order.
