Snackdown Fryday at the Alameda County Fair last week drew a variety of creative food concoctions, including the donut gelato sandwich, Flaming Hot Cheetos corn dog, pineapple chicken and rice bowl, deep-fried mac and cheese balls, and turkey leg tacos.
But California Corn Company’s Doritos corn on the cob took the cake, earning first place after the judges selected its cob creation as the Snackdown winner.
The 2017 Alameda County Fair — themed “Best. Summer. Ever.” — is closed today and Tuesday before continuing its 20-day run in Pleasanton from Wednesday through July 9, including carnival attractions, nightly concerts, horse racing, special events and more all Independence Day weekend.
