The Contra Costa County Elections Division is encouraging photographers of all skill levels and ages to participate in its Voter Information Guide Photo Contest for a chance to have their photo seen by over 600,000 Contra Costa residents next June.

Following the theme of “Civic life in the Contra Costa County,” entries will be judged on the following five criteria: expression of theme, technical execution, originality, composition and photo description.

The winner will have their picture featured on the cover of the June 2018 Contra Costa Voter Information Guide, which is mailed to over 600,000 voters. First-, second- and third-place finishers will have their pictures posted in the Contra Costa County Elections Division office lobby and on their website.

Only digital photos will be accepted and the photo size is 5.75” x 3.1875”; larger photos will be cropped to fit that size. Photos can either be submitted in color or in black and white, but will run in the voter information guide in black and white.

A complete application for this contest must include a TIFF or JPEG of the digital photo and a completed photo contest submission form, which includes a brief description of the photo.

The Elections’ Outreach Division will be accepting photos from Contra Costa residents through midnight Aug. 6. Submissions should be sent to Outreach@vote.cccounty.us and include “Photo Contest entry” on the subject line.
