A free feature film screening of “Forks Over Knives,” an acclaimed documentary advocating a whole foods plant-based diet, is scheduled to take place next Thursday (July 27) at Danville’s Village Theatre.

The complimentary screening will be shown in conjunction with “Pleasing to the Palette,” the current art exhibition in the Village Art Gallery showcasing paintings, drawings and sculptures that depict food in the eyes of artists.

Following American physician Caldwell Esselstyn and professor of nutritional biochemistry T. Colin Campbell, “Forks Over Knives” examines the relationship between eating and health, rejecting an animal-based diet full of processed foods and promoting a low-fat, whole-food, plant-based diet as a means to obtain a healthier lifestyle and avoid degenerative diseases including obesity, cardiovascular diseases and cancer.

Participants will also have the opportunity to sample a wide array of healthy treats from local vendors and participate in a brief discussion on food led by artist and plant-based health coach Rochelle Blank-Zimmer.

The screening will begin at 7:30 p.m at the Village Theatre, located at 233 Front St. in Danville.

The event is free and does not require a ticket, but a $5 donation is appreciated. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.villagetheatreshows.com or call 314-3400.
