Attorney Joan Grimes has been elected president of the Rotary Club of Alamo for the 2017-18 Rotary year.

Grimes, who succeeds 2016-17 club president Beth Burlingame-Randall, is an attorney specializing in estate planning and bankruptcy law who joined the Rotary Club of Alamo in early 2016.

She received her bachelor’s degree in political science from UC Berkeley and her law degree from Cal Western School of Law.

Her offices are in Walnut Creek and Brentwood, and she grew up and still resides in Lafayette.

As president, Grimes plans to lead a major project whose goal is to provide assistance to the Bay Area Crisis Nursery in Concord and will also be focused on the Alamo Rotary Club’s participation in the Christmas Tree Lighting, the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Family Fun Day held at Livorna Park, support for the Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troops that are sponsored by the club and more.

Besides Grimes, the club also recently announced its other 2017-18 officers: Jack Thompson as 2018-2019 president elect and international director, Jim Schuppert as treasurer, Karen McPherson as secretary and Burlingame-Randall as immediate past president and youth services director.

Other club directors include Steve Larmore, community service; Diane Barley, club service; Greg Schuyler, foundation; Dana Wellington, membership and retention; Steve Collins, Steve Polcyn and Kim Smith, at-large directors.

The club temporarily meets on Wednesdays at 12:15 p.m.at Blackhawk Country Club, 599 Blackhawk Country Drive, Danville, while Round Hill Country Club is being remodeled.
