The town of Danville has released an analysis of the town’s demographics and market needs as a way to provide assistance to Danville business owners and to help concretize economic development plans in the works, according to town officials.
The analysis, released online at the end of August, was prepared by consultant ECONSolutions, who were instructed to focus on business attraction in their report.
“We are always looking for ways in which to bring business into Danville, and provide assistance in allowing these ventures to succeed,” said Jill Bergman, the town’s economic development manager.
The report noted that Danville had been rated as 15th on the 50 Safest Cities in California by Safewise, with one of its zip codes ranked as the 14th wealthiest zip code in America by Business Insider and in 2011 Pinpoint Demographics rated the town as #1 in the nation in terms of per capita spending on clothing. It lists the population at 43,577, the average household income as $183,113 and an annual retail sales per capita of $10,914.
The report goes on to profile more specific segments of the Danville community, by income level, ethnicity, residence and occupation, looking at their market needs.
It also looks at the current market supply and demand of the area and includes a void analysis, or a list of retailers and restaurants that could potentially fill a void within a market — some of the businesses listed in this analysis, for example, include an Ann Taylor clothing store, a Corner Bakery and a Total Wine & More, among others.
“This report is a valuable data rich tool provided complimentary to commercial land owners, real estate agents, leasing companies and prospective businesses to aid in reaching the goal of a stronger business community in Danville,” Bergman said.
