Artwork from high school students in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District will soon be featured for over a month in a new exhibition at the Village Theatre & Art Gallery in downtown Danville.

The exhibition showcases work from student-artists at the five SRVUSD high schools: Monte Vista, San Ramon Valley, California, Dougherty Valley and Venture. The theme is “Face It!” and all the students whose work is featured collaborated with district teachers to interpret that phrase and artistically depict what it means for them.

“Face It!” will kick off Thursday, Nov. 2 with an opening reception lasting from 5-7 p.m.; complimentary refreshments will be served at this free event. The exhibition will run through Dec. 17.

Kelsey Wengel, visual arts teacher at Dougherty Valley, is the curator of this exhibition, working with secondary art teachers district-wide to put together a diverse collection of student work. Wengel has taught at DVHS since 2007, and she is a strong proponent for visual arts within schools and the community.
