School district parents and staff are now invited to share their thoughts through an online survey on the changes made to the 2016-17 instructional year calendar.

Changes to the San Ramon Valley Unified School District calendar that began last school year included ending the first semester prior to winter break, starting the school year earlier in August and ending it earlier in June.

“We are interested in learning how these changes affected: students’ academic performance, ability to participate in extracurricular activities, and stress levels; families’ child care needs and vacation time; and employees’ holiday plans and summer professional development,” district officials said in a recent release.

The survey deadline is 5 p.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 7). The parent survey can be accessed at this link, and the employee survey here.

All responses are anonymous and will be kept confidential, and the survey should take 5-10 minutes. Responses will be used to help the district plan its instructional calendars for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years.

A personalized learning survey, following a series of discussions on the topic hosted by Superintendent Rick Schmitt, will be sent out after this one closes.
