The newly formed San Ramon Walking District group will hold an evening walking tour of the city’s proposed walking district on Monday.
The 2.1-mile walk will begin on the steps of City Hall, 7000 Bollinger Canyon Road, at 7 p.m. The tour will take participants through Central Park, Bishop Ranch, past the lakes at Bishop Ranch 2600 and finish outside of the future City Center site.
Participants will be walking until just after dusk, around 8:30 p.m., and temperatures are expected to drop to the low 60s, so organizers recommend walkers bring a hat and layered jacket.
“We hope to continue this as a series of walks and we look forward to engaging with our friends and neighbors,” co-chairs of the San Ramon Walking District group, Shelly Lewis and Scott Roberts, said via email. “We (will) explore the proposed future pedestrian-friendly walking district route incorporating the three gems of San Ramon: Central Park, Sunset Lake and the future city center.”
The walking district would cover almost 200 acres and include the Central Park, upcoming City Center, over 13 acres of lakes at the old AT&T building, the Iron Horse Regional Trail, library, City Hall and Community Center.
Attendance is limited to 50 people so be sure to RSVP with organizers via email, at walksanramon@gmail.com, as soon as possible.
The event is not sponsored by the city, but walkers will see Mayor Bill Clarkson participating and providing his support.
