Chow Danville has closed up shop

Company shifts focus to three other Bay Area locations

After a decade of service in Danville, the American comfort food eatery Chow is closing up shop in downtown.

As of May 15, Chow announced on Facebook that it would be closing its Danville location and focus its attention on its three remaining locations across the Bay Area.

“After 10 wonderful years, it’s time for us to move on. We’re really proud of the time we spent on Railroad Avenue, and of the wonderful relationships we’ve developed with the incredible community in Danville/Alamo/San Ramon in this time. We will miss our friends and neighbors, but really hope that we can continue the relationships in our Lafayette (or Oakland or San Francisco!) location,” said Jamie Johnson from Chow.

Chow has seen its share of change this year, closing down two of its longstanding Bay Area locations, while also opening a new one.

On Jan. 21, Chow closed down Park Chow, one of its San Francisco locations that had been in operation for 20 years, replacing it with the opening of its Oakland location; Chow Oakland Cafe, Bakery & Market.

“After 20 incredible and successful years at Park Chow, we have decided that the time has come for us to move on, and to pass the torch on to the next inspired restaurateur to make this very special place their home,” spokespeople released in a letter to customers after Park Chow’s closing “We truly loved having had the opportunity to feed you all, and are forever grateful – thank you.”

The original Chow restaurant, 215 Church St. San Francisco, remains open in addition to the Oakland and Lafayette locations.

Over priced, slow service and average food at best. Won't miss it.

Hopefully a new Pizza restaurant moves in. We just don't have enough Pizza joints in Danville.

I preferred the Blockbuster video store that was there before Chow's. Is it too late for me to return my overdue video? I just found it on my CB radio.

After a spider scampered from under my french fries, I decided it was NOT the place to go.

Hard to believe that a restaurant full of waiters and waitresses with nose, eyelid and cheek piercings, not to mention covered with tattoos, was unsuccessful. Nothing more appetizing than a waitress with eye piercings and full body tattoos touching my food.

Right on Grandpa! I would add the attractive ear gages to the list. There is nothing more appetizing than seeing light thru the earlobe of your server!

Yes...Lousy food, Lousy service and very small portions. Can't believe they survived 10 years. Must have taken that long for people to eat there once and never go back.
