The over 4,000 acres of land in Del Valle Regional Park will be receiving some improvements, with funds courtesy of a bipartisan effort by two Tri-Valley politicians.

California Assemblywoman Catharine Baker (R-San Ramon) and State Senator Steve Glazer (D-Orinda) will be hosting a press conference Monday afternoon with officials from the East Bay Regional Park District, to discuss additional funding secured from the state budget to support “significant” improvements at the Del Valle Regional Park, in Livermore.

Baker and Glazer plan to discuss how the $5 million in funding they secured from the 2018-19 state budget will be used to improve the park’s facilities and resources.

The two politicians have a history of working together on issues that affect the region and have acknowledged their bipartisan cooperation on various occasions.

“Nowhere else in the United States have two elected officials from opposing parties joined together in such a sustained effort to listen to voters’ concerns without regard to party affiliation,” Glazer’s office said in a statement released February.

Rep. Baker is seeking to win a third term in the State Assembly’s 16th district and come November will be running against attorney and political newcomer Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (D-Orinda).

The meeting will begin Monday 1 p.m. at the Rocky Ridge Visitor Center, 7000 Del Valle Road, on the western edge of Del Valle Lake.
