The Danville Town Council is set to highlight Tuesday the need for residents to fill soon-to-be-available positions on several commissions tasked with advising the council on various municipal issues.
Applications are now being accepted for the Contra Costa County Library Commission, Design Review Board, Heritage Resource Commission and Planning Commission, which are all in need of regular or alternate members to serve their community.
Applications will be accepted until Nov. 15 at 4 p.m, and qualified applications will then be invited to a 15-minute interview at one of two council meetings on Dec. 11 or 18.
Danville requires one representative to serve on the Contra Costa County Library Commission, to serve from Dec. 21 to June 30, 2022. The commission acts as a liaison between the Town Council and the county’s Board of Supervisors and the county librarian, while also advising each agency on various library related issues.
The Design Review Board is in need of two regular members and one alternate to assist the council and Planning Commission in reviewing and evaluating proposed projects and architecture designs, to ensure that they are consistent with the town’s general plan. Members will serve a four-year term to begin Jan. 1.
Two regular members and one alternate are needed for the Heritage Resource Commission, which is responsible for advising the various town agencies on matters related to the identifying historical sites, inventorying and protecting them,and developing preservation incentives for property owners. Members will also serve four-year terms to begin Jan. 1.
Danville’s Planning Commission needs three regular members to advise the council on the town’s long-term general plan for the physical development of the town and review all of the planning and development proposals for properties inside town limits. Four-year terms begin on the first of the year.

The Town Council’s regular meeting is set to start at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Town Meeting Hall, 201 Front St. in downtown Danville.
In other business
* The council will hear several semi-annual reports on the state of various town agencies at its meeting, starting with the Parks and Leisure Services Commission, Arts Commission and then will close out with the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce liaison report.
* The town’s banner program is expected to receive an additional $32,625, to fund the programs expansion from San Ramon Valley Boulevard and Hartz Avenue to include Railroad Avenue. The council previously discussed adding additional banner along Railroad Avenue at its study session last week.
* Listed as a consent item is final update to the the town’s wireless communication facilities ordinance.
After its July 17 public hearing, the council will be adding revisions to the ordinance that include establishing location and design standards, permit requirements and adding definitions as defined by federal and state regulations.
