San Ramon Performing Arts launches its 2018-19 season next week, with big names and other exciting events at the city’s two theaters.

“The season shows are five world-class entertainers that the city hosts every year,” said Nicole Blazin, marketing and public relations analyst for San Ramon.

It kicks off with an ’80s Night featuring the Romantics and special guest Tommy Tutone at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 12, at the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center, 10550 Albion Road.

People are encourage to don apparel from the 1980s, tease their hair, and add a scrunchy or two for the costume contest and photo booth before the show begins. Tickets are $59, and purchasing season tickets takes 10% off the cost of each show.

The other major acts scheduled for the 2018-19 season are:

* Fleetwood Mask, Listen to the wind blow and hear the sounds of Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood as the Bay Area based tribute band pays homage to one of the 70s’ most iconic bands; $35 8 p.m., Saturday Oct. 6.

* The Ten Tenors, from Australia on their 20th Anniversary World Tour; $44

8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17

* iLuminate, offering an adventure of music, art and technology; $44 adults/$25 youths 12 and under

7 p.m., Saturday, March 2

* Blue Öyster Cult, intelligent hard rock revered on the heavy metal scene; $64

8 p.m., Saturday, March 16

* Billy Ocean, calypso kid from Trinidad who had a string of R&B international pop hits in the ’70s and ’80s; $69

8 p.m., Saturday, April 6

The theaters also keep busy with community groups, such as the San Ramon Symphonic Band, Lady K, and Jumpin’ at the Sun. And the facilities are used by the schools and are rented out.

“In total, the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center alone is in use over 250 dates per year,” Nicole Blazin said.

The San Ramon Symphonic Band, under the direction of Larry Colon and Bryan Holbrook, will present the following this season:

* “A Celebration of Leonard Bernstein” at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19

* “Winter Holiday Festival” at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 23

* “Fantasia!” at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 1

* “Great Women Composers” at 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 24. Tickets are $8, and students under 12 are free.

An annual favorite is “Impressions of the Nutcracker” by the San Ramon Valley Dance Academy at the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center., on Dec. 8 and Dec. 9. Tickets ae $25; children ages 3-11 and seniors are $21.

San Ramon Performing Arts also presents the Bay Area Children’s Theatre Education Program, with performances at the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center at $10 per ticket for anyone older than 2.

* “Elf Jr.,” Dec. 20-22

* “Rainbowfish Kids,” Jan. 14-20

* “Guys and Dolls Jr.,” May 9-11

* “Seussical Kids,” May 13-19

The San Ramon Youth Symphony will present short classical concerts under the direction of David Sego at the Front Row Theater, 17011 Bollinger Canyon Road, on Feb. 11 and May 20.

San Ramon Community Chorus and Dancers will present free performances as follows:

* “Holiday Magic,” a 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, and the San Ramon Community Center at Central Park

* “St. Patrick’s Day, at 7 p.m., Friday, March 15, at the Front Row Theater

* Broadway Surprise,” at 7 p.m., Friday, June 7, at the Front Row Theater
