Danville’s Town Council members are scheduled to review the town’s fiscal situation at their regular meeting Tuesday evening when they review their year’s end audited financial report.
The council will hear a report completed by the Pun Group, LLP, that gives a comprehensive financial report on the town’s expenditures and revenues over the past year.
“As of June 30, 2018, the town of Danville’s financial condition continues to be sound,” town finance manager Lani Ha wrote in a staff report.
Initial reports continue to be positive for Danville. Not only did revenues exceed expenditures by $5,960,858, but at 2.8% unemployment in Danville is much lower than the national 4.1%, and state average 4.3%.
While the general fund did see a net decrease in fund balance of $520,368, as of June 30, town revenues did exceeded expenditures by $5,960,858.
The Danville Town Council will meet to discuss the town’s financial report as well as other issues at its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Danville Town Offices, 510 La Gonda Way.
In other business
* The council is also set to hear a report on Tri-Valley/San Joaquin County Regional Rail Authority, presented by Councilwoman Karen Stepper.
* Vice Mayor Robert Storer will also give a presentation on the happenings of Danville’s Planning Commission.
* In a closed session set to be held after the regular meeting has been concluded, the council will discuss and review a recently received petition requesting the town transition from at large to district voting for future elections.
Transitioning to district voting would essentially mean residents would only vote for council members in their designated geographic district, as opposed to all residents choosing to vote from all council candidates at-large, as is the current practice.
