In its efforts to recognize the hidden talents of its students while also fostering the honing of their talents, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District has announced the winners of its 2019 Student Recognition Project.

According to district officials, more than 600 students from all four of the District’s comprehensive high schools, as well as from Venture Independent Study School and Del Amigo High School, submitted projects in 23 categories that ranged from Community Service to Digital Photography, with a large number of students receiving honors for their contributions.

“The Student Recognition Project is special to me because it provides an opportunity for students to pursue a personal interest or to extend what they may be learning in a class, to receive feedback on it, and potentially receive recognition. It is a pleasure to get to see and enjoy the products of their efforts at this Open House,” SRVUSD Board President Rachel Hurd said at the project’s Open House held March 11.

According to SRVUSD officials, the purpose of the Student Recognition project is not only to recognize the talents of students but also to encourage collaboration among students, educators and the region’s business community, with the goal of helping students hone their skills and be prepared for the 21st century.

Each winner was selected by professionals who are experts in their field and will be honored at an awards ceremony at the Town of Danville’s Village Theater on March 25.

This year Student Recognition Project categories include Community Service, Entrepreneur, Leadership, Childhood Education, Science, Engineering, Video Production, Creative Writing, Journalism, Poetry, 3D Art/Functional Art, Digital Art, Digital Photography, Film Photography, Visual Arts — Black and White, Visual Arts — Color, Graphic Design, Culinary Arts and Hospitality, Dance, Drama, Instrumental Music, Piano, and Vocal Music.

A full list of students who won, as well as honorable mentions, is available on the SRVUSD Student Recognition Webpage.

The program is coordinated by the district and this year is sponsored by Fidelity National Home Warranty, Compass Real Estate – Jeff & Jan Bruno, Sunset Development, Ferber Law A Professional Corporation, The Coder School – San Ramon, Huntington Learning Center, Louis Plummer, Tarkett, MeTEOR, All County Flooring and Sierra Installation Inc.
