Officials from the city of San Ramon and the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District are getting ready to move into the next stages toward developing a joint police and fire district headquarters, and they have planned a series of public information meetings to touch base with the community on the project.
The city has planned three informational session where officials will meet with residents to discuss the project that would fully renovate the existing San Ramon Police Department headquarters on 2401 Crow Canyon Road, so it can accommodate fire district administrators, as well as a new Emergency Operations Center and joint 911 Communications Center.
City officials say the projected $26.8 million renovations — which have not yet been given final approval by the City Council — would properly equip first responders with necessary infrastructure for the next 50 years of more, and that construction and development would likely be completed within 18-22 months, if not sooner.
Officials added that in order to accommodate both departments, the San Ramon Permit Center currently located at the police headquarters would be moved to City Hall.
The initial series of public meetings on the San Ramon police and fire joint headquarters will be held on the following dates:
* June 3 (Monday), 6-7 p.m., inside the SRVFPD Board Room, 1500 Bollinger Canyon Road, San Ramon.
* June 4 (Tuesday), 6-7 p.m., the Dougherty Valley Community Center Front Row Theater, 17011 Bollinger Canyon Road, San Ramon.
* June 5 (Wednesday), 6 to 7 p.m. San Ramon City Hall, EOC/Training Room, 7000 Bollinger Canyon Road.
