Contra Costa County officials have announced that a census workshop originally set for this Thursday in Danville has been rescheduled to later in the month in order to not coincide with the Golden State Warriors and Game 6 of the NBA Finals
“As exciting as the topic of Census 2020 is, the Warriors NBA Finals game is taking precedence,” Contra Costa County District 2 Supervisor Candace Andersen said in a statement.
According to Andersen, Danville’s “South County Census Solutions Workshop” originally scheduled for Thursday will now be held on June 25 (Tuesday) from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Oak Hill Park, 3005 Stone Valley Road.
The workshop offers residents an opportunity to learn about the upcoming 2020 Census, and the county’s efforts to coordinate the many local agencies that will need to cooperate to document all of the inhabitants in Contra Costa County.
At the workshop — which will serve light refreshments — county officials will ask attendees for insights into their community in order to help outreach efforts, and will inform residents about mini-grant programs used to help reach hard-to-count population groups.
Thursday night’s game in Oracle Arena is a must-win for the Warriors, who are currently trailing 3-2 in the series against the Toronto Raptors.
