Officials at San Ramon Regional Medical Center know that staying healthy, and getting better when you are not, can happen in a variety of ways.
Recognizing the therapeutic properties music can have on patients, San Ramon Regional officials welcomed David Victor — formerly of the popular rock band Boston — to perform live acoustic music at the bedside of patients who are on the mend on May 30.
Victor is the founder of Harmony & Healing, an organization that brings music to people recovering in hospitals and their loved ones, as a way to reduce anxiety, ease pain and to help patients take their minds off of a likely difficult situation.
“We take patient’s and family’s minds off their challenges with live musical performances. Music lowers patient stress levels, brings about positive associations, speeds healing and restores happiness to patient’s lives and the lives of their loved ones,” says the Harmony & Healing website.
At San Ramon Regional, Victor’s performances were more intimate; during his time there he serenaded individual patients, but he offers full band experiences in larger common areas and can play solo acoustic, jazz or pop duos. Crafting performances based on the needs of the hospital.
