With the days getting colder and winter well on its way, Contra Costa County Public Health officials want residents to get an early jump on flu season and are offering free vaccinations for residents during the Mount Diablo Adult Education Health Fair on Oct. 23.
Flu shots will be given to residents six months old and older — although attendees under the age of 18 will require parental consent to receive a vaccination — on a first come first serve basis while supplies last, so residents are encouraged to seek vaccinations as soon as possible.
In addition to free flu vaccinations, county health officials will also be offering fast and confidential HIV and Hepatitis C screenings and hands on CPR demonstrations among other health services.
The fair itself is set to be held in the Mount Diablo Adult Education’s Career and Technical Education Center, 1266 San Carlos Ave., Concord, and will feature a variety of health and dental screenings from students, staff and graduates of the health training programs offered by the center.
Residents can attend the fair to receive a flu shot and learn more Wednesday (Oct. 23), from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Mount Diablo Adult Education’s Career and Technical Education Center.
