Just days after issuing an alert on social media for residents to be on the lookout for package thieves heading into Hanukkah and Christmas week, the San Ramon Police Department announced on its Facebook page Thursday that three people were arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen packages among other charges.
According to police, on Wednesday a resident in San Ramon reported that an unidentified female had just stolen a package off of her porch, sending police into action.
Using the thorough description of the culprit and the vehicle that they left in, police said they were able to track down the vehicle which, in addition to the culprit and two accomplices, was found to have stolen packages, methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia.
Police arrested all three suspects.
“Just a reminder — Retrieve packages from your porch ASAP. Also, if you see any suspicious people or vehicles loitering in your neighborhood, report it immediately by calling our dispatch at 973-2779,” SRPD officials said in a Facebook post warning residents that package thieves are on the prowl.
