The board is also set to discuss its efforts to support racial equity and inclusion at its schools sites, a discussion sparked in response to a resident submitted petition calling on the district to do more for racial justice.

Originally set to be discussed during the board’s regular meeting on Tuesday, the petition states that despite the board vocalizing a desire to combat racism in its schools, not enough has been done to put those words to action.

District staff say they will review the petition, discuss how the SRVUSD has worked to combat racism and will consider taking additional actions to creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment. If additional action is desired by the board, district staff will bring the item back during the next general board meeting on March 30.
