Young theater artists in their sophomore, junior, and senior years of high school are invited to apply for the Eugene O’Neill Foundation’s Studio Retreat Program, which hosts selected applicants for a 10-day retreat and intensive study program for budding actors, directors, and playwrights at the historic Tao House.
The retreat runs from June 15 to June 25, with a two-day break on June 19 and June 20. Applications are open through May 1, and are available along with more information on the program here.
Danville State of the Chamber
The Danville Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual State of the Chamber address and Community Awards next week.
The theme of this year’s event is “Denim and Diamonds,” with attendees encouraged to sport outfits reflecting the theme. It will feature a three-course dinner during the awards ceremony, as well as a performance from country artist Jaxon Spurs.
Festivities are scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday (April 26) at the Blackhawk Country Club at 599 Blackhawk Club Drive in Danville. More information and tickets are available here.
Drug Takeback Day
The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff is partnering with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for this year’s National Prescription Drug Takeback Day, with drop-off locations set to be open at numerous locations throughout the county this weekend.
“The Take Back event is a great opportunity to dispose of unwanted medication in our homes,” Contra Costa Sheriff David Livingston said. “These drugs could fall into the wrong hands or harm family members. Take Back helps prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.”
In the San Ramon Valley, dropoff locations will be available at Valley Station at 150 Alamo Plaza and at the Danville Police Department at 510 La Gonda Way from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday (April 22). More information is available here.
Autism Awareness Month talk
The San Ramon Library is hosting a virtual storytime and discussion in honor of National Autism Awareness Month featuring Stefanie Boggs-Johnson, author of “I See You, Little Andrew”.
Boggs will read her book to the virtual audience, which tells the story of a young boy on the autism spectrum as he goes about a normal school day, followed by a question and answer session.
The event is scheduled from 10-11 a.m. Saturday. More information is available here.
