The Contra Costa County Clerk Recorder’s Office is set to offer additional local couples the opportunity to hold wedding ceremonies on Mount Diablo, after an earlier opportunity for “destination weddings” on the mountain was quickly filled up in May.

The office is set to offer ceremonies for 16 couples at the mountain’s summit on Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with appointments still available as of Friday.

“We had an overwhelming response for our last Destination Weddings event on Mount Diablo in May,” said Kristin Connelly, Contra Costa County clerk-recorder and commissioner of civil marriages. “Our team is offering this special opportunity twice this year for couples because it is so popular and is a beautiful venue for an affordable price.”

Couples are allowed up to 30 guests for the ceremonies, but only 16 seats will be available. They are required to obtain a marriage license ahead of their ceremony appointments from the clerk-recorder’s office in Martinez.

With the last round of ceremonies at Mount Diablo having been rapidly booked, interested couples are encouraged to contact the clerk-recorder’s office as soon as possible for appointments by calling 925-335-7900.
