The Zone 7 Water Agency Board of Directors underwent its annual reorganization during its July meeting where it collectively named Director Laurene Green as its next board president.
“It is an honor to serve as President of the Zone 7 Board of Directors,” Green stated in a July 16 press release.Â
Green, a longtime Pleasanton resident, has been with the board ever since she first got elected to her seat in 2020. According to the agency, Green brings “valuable technical expertise in groundwater, water resources, and environmental engineering that support the board’s work in guiding long-term investments in water quality, water supply reliability, groundwater sustainability, and flood protection”.
“Zone 7 plays a vital role in the daily lives of everyone who lives and works in the Tri-Valley,” Green added. “I look forward to working with my fellow directors to ensure we continue investing in reliable water supplies, protecting our groundwater resources, and providing the high level of service our community expects.”
Director Sarah Palmer, who was just reelected to the board during the recent primary election, was also named as the board’s vice president.Â
The Livermore resident has served on the Zone 7 board since 2006. According to its press release, Zone 7 “looks forward to continuing to benefit from her leadership and experience on the board”.
In addition to the leadership reorganization, the board welcomed the three newly elected directors who have replaced former directors Dennis Gambs, Dawn Benson and Catherine Brown, who did not seek reelection during the June primary election.
Those three new directors are Alan Burnham, Jim Lehrman and Sean Roberts.Â
Burnham is a longtime Livermore resident and chemist who worked at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for 35 years. His professional background also includes work in geochemistry and geology.
Lehrman, a Pleasanton resident, also comes from a background as a professional geologist and as a certified hydrologist with “with more than 40 years of experience in groundwater investigations, environmental consulting, and groundwater quality”.
Roberts, another Livermore resident, comes from a computer engineering background with more than 25 years of experience leading “large-scale infrastructure and technology programs in both the public and private sectors”. According to Zone 7, his experience with “organizational governance, strategic planning, financial oversight, and infrastructure management” brings “valuable expertise to the Board’s oversight of critical water and flood protection infrastructure”.
“Each member of our Board brings unique experience and perspectives that will help guide important decisions affecting water reliability, water quality, groundwater sustainability, flood protection, and long-term infrastructure investments,” General Manager Valerie Pryor said in the press release. “We look forward to working with our returning and newly elected directors as we continue planning for the future of the Tri-Valley.”
