What a time to be a volleyball fan in the Tri-Valley
Plain and simple – the East Bay Athletic League boys’ volleyball season is crazy and unpredictable.


Power Rankings as of April 28.
EBAL BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
1. Livermore (29-4, 10-2): The Cowboys avoid the Playbook jinx as they beat Amador Valley (3-2), then Foothill (3-1) to move one win away from a 30-win season.
2. Dublin (21-4, 10-2): The Gaels rally from a loss to Livermore two weeks ago to beat Foothill (3-0) and Granada (3-0) to keep pace with Livermore and San Ramon Valley.
3. San Ramon Valley (20-9, 10-2): The Wolves keep pace with the top two teams, beating De La Salle 3-1, then closing out the week with a 3-2 win over Amador Valley.
4. De La Salle (16-16, 7-5): Bad week for the Spartans as they fall 3-1 to San Ramon Valley, then get swept by 2-9 Dougherty Valley.
5. Foothill (15-14, 6-6): The Falcons fall to the top two teams in the league, 3-0 to Dublin, then 3-1 to Livermore. At this point, they deserve to be in the top five.
Others: California (18-13, 6-6), Granada (16-10, 4-8), Amador Valley (15-15, 3-9), Dougherty Valley (12-16, 3-9), Monte Vista (11-13, 1-11).
EBAL SOFTBALL
1. Livermore (19-1, 9-0): The Cowboys keep going, racking 16 straight wins. They beat Carondelet 7-6, then California 7-1 to end the week.
2. San Ramon Valley (13-6, 6-2): The Wolves beat Foothill 7-6 in their lone EBAL game last week.
3. Granada (10-9, 6-2): The Matadors are getting it done in league, beating Carondelet 6-5, then California 2-1.
4. Carondelet (12-6, 5-3): Tough week for the Cougars as they fell 7-6 to Livermore and 6-5 to Granada.
5. California (10-9, 5-4): The Grizzlies fell to Livermore (7-1), then to Granada (2-1) in a tough week.
Others: Amador Valley (6-8-1, 3-5), Foothill (9-8, 3-5), Dublin (6-13, 2-6), Monte Vista (3-12, 2-7), Dougherty Valley (0-13, 0-8).
EBAL BASEBALL
1. De La Salle (11-4, 5-1): The Spartans finally drop an EBAL game, falling 6-5 to Foothill. DLS beat Foothill 5-0 to open the week and still deserve the top spot.
2. Dublin (15-3, 5-3): The Gaels split games with California, dropping the first game 5-3 before rallying for a 7-0 win to end the week.
3. Granada (13-5, 7-1): The Mats keep winning games – the winning streak is eight games – as they took a pair from Amador Valley.
4. Monte Vista (11-6, 4-2): The Mustangs take a pair of games from Livermore to stay in the thick of the league.
5. San Ramon Valley (10-5-2, 3-3): The Wolves beat Dougherty Valley in their lone EBAL game last week.
Others: Foothill (10-7, 4-3), Amador Valley (8-10, 3-5), California (10-6-2, 3-4), Livermore (4-15, 0-8), Dougherty Valley (2-14, 1-6).

EBAL softball: California at San Ramon Valley, Granada at Foothill, 4 p.m.

EBAL baseball: De La Salle at Granada, Monte Vista at Dublin, San Ramon Valley at Foothill, 4 p.m.

Pleasanton Preps: Foothill baseball stays in thick of EBAL race
Last week, the Falcons dropped a pair of games to Granada, falling from the unbeaten ranks. But thanks to a recent six-game winning streak, Foothill is still in the thick of the EBAL race.
New public Fitness Court opens at Dublin school campus
The Dublin community now has access to a free outdoor gym at the academic campus on York Drive, thanks to a partnership between the school district and the National Fitness Campaign.
