Dublin Pleasanton Tennis Group qualifies for nationals
The Dublin Pleasanton Tennis Group reached a historic milestone last month, capturing the USTA Northern California Tri-Level Invitational title held from March 20-22 at Blackhawk Country Club.
The victory marks the group’s ninth trip to the National Championships in just four years and their first-ever qualification in the competitive 3.0/3.5/4.0 Division.
Led by captain Gabriel Mangonon and group mentor Narayana Rao Surapaneni, DPTG has built a legacy of excellence since the post-COVID return to play.
Their impressive national resume now includes one national championship (2022), two national runners-up finishes (2024, 2025), and nine total national appearances in four years representing USTA NorCal.
The DPTG winning team features a talented lineup of Tri-Valley athletes: Devank Agarwal, Gaurav Anand, Goutham Arra, Ritesh Bhandari, Sai Charan Kukunoor, Arjun Kumar, captain Mangonon, Mahesh Narayanan, Oliver Nono, Kiran Kumar Thungala, Bryan Wendleton, David Wiser and group mentor Surapaneni.
“While we have had great success in the 3.0 and 3.5 divisions, this is the first time we’ve made it to Nationals in the Tri-Level 3.0/3.5/4.0 category,” Surapaneni said. “The competition in Diablo South is incredible. Our second team finished 5th overall, missing the semis by just one set. Having two DPTG teams in the top five standings alongside San Ramon and Fremont proves the immense depth of talent in our local tennis community.”
