Pleasant Hill police on Tuesday arrested a Richmond man in connection with the shooting deaths of two men during an attempted robbery last year of a cannabis company delivery driver.

Amir Shaw, 20, is one of three men suspected in the March 19, 2024 shooting on Twinbridge Circle in Pleasant Hill.

Pleasant Hill police investigators, with the assistance of U.S. Marshals, arrested Shaw in Richmond as he attempted to flee, according to a press release from police.

Two other Richmond men suspected in the shooting, Joe Washington Jr., 18, and Money Green, 20, were arrested last April in Sacramento.

The shooting was reported about noon on March 19, 2024 in the area of Twinbridge Circle near Longbrook Way.

Officers found two men with gunshot wounds and both were taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where they died.

One of those killed was 63-year-old delivery driver Peter Popovich of Pleasant Hill.

The second was 21-year-old San Pablo resident Trevon Davis, who is believed to be one of the suspects who tried to rob Popovich.

Police said that both the suspects and Popovich were armed, leading to a shootout. Popovich had a concealed-carry permit and used his own gun. Witnesses said they saw a vehicle fleeing the scene.

Police said Popovich made deliveries for a company selling packaging materials for the legal distribution and sales of cannabis.

Investigators believe Popovich was likely targeted for robbery by Davis and at least one other suspect while he was standing near his van parked on Twinbridge Circle.

Jail records show Shaw is being held without bail and is set to appear in court on Feb. 6.
