The city of San Ramon’s tourism district debuted a new look earlier in the year, launching the “Everyone Loves it Here” tagline and logo and website updates during a networking event in October.
The rebrand seeks to leverage the existing quality of life that many residents find in San Ramon in order to draw more visitors to the city – and revenue, particularly following the city’s passage of a 1% sales tax measure in November that will go into effect in the spring amid ongoing financial struggles and budget cuts.
“By promoting overnight visitation via marketing initiatives and advertising campaigns, Discover San Ramon encourages both business and leisure tourism that contribute financially to the community,” Discover San Ramon Chair Dennis Garrison said in an announcement from the organization on Oct. 24.
It’s the latest development for Discover San Ramon since its inception in 2015. The nonprofit organization is funded by the city’s hotel room tax and operates with the goal of making San Ramon a destination for tourism, networking, and other activities bringing visitors to the city.
“If you’re lucky, you either live or work in San Ramon,” said Candiece Estell, director of sales for Sonesta Select San Ramon. “But if you’re fortunate enough to do both, you truly understand the perfect balance and serene beauty this city offers.”
At the start of the year, the City Council voted to renew the tourism improvement district for an additional five years. Discover San Ramon – which operates as the standalone tourism organization for San Ramon in a move that separated the city from its neighboring communities represented by Visit Tri-Valley – cited the rebrand as part of a broader effort this year to contend with the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the organization’s ongoing efforts to bring visitors to the city.
In addition to the new look and tagline, Discover San Ramon announced and celebrated several other bolstered initiatives, including its ongoing partnerships with the city, the chamber of commerce, Bishop Ranch, and Innovation Tri-Valley. Officials also celebrated the launch of an event grants initiative that seeks to encourage local businesses and organizations to submit new event ideas to the city, with three $5,000 grants up for grabs for that purpose.
