It pays to be a night owl. I’m still up at 2:30 am to post the election results for the 15th Congressional District and 16th Assembly District.

I’m posting the chart as a picture. I hope that it is readable. It looks like voters in Contra Costa County made the difference between choosing from a Democrat and Republican in the fall instead of two Democrats in each race.

  1. Roz,

Glad to see that Hugh Bussell and Catherine Baker in the top two by voters. Also, glad to hear else where that Mary Hayashi may finally be toast.

  2. Michael,

Bussell won by 610 votes which was the exact number of hits on my interview of him yesterday. Coincidence? Maybe.

  3. Roz,
How do you get two Dems in the AD16 race without the CC vote? Catherine Baker came in First in CCCO and 2nd in ALCO. She is in the fall race either way.

  4. I don?t know a thing about Tim Sbranti, but he and his crew inundated my mailbox with negative attack ads every single day for over a month. No thanks.

Since he came in third he won?t be on the ballot in the fall, right?

  5. SP,

Sbranti came in third in Contra Costa County but first in Alameda County. He finished second in the combined vote total for Assembly District 16. So the election will be between Baker and Sbranti in November.

    Resident,

You are correct about Baker. She finished first in Contra Costa County and Second in Alameda. So she would be in the November election either way. However her opponent in Contra Costa County would have been Steve Glazer and not Tim Sbranti.

At this point I would say Baker is the frontrunner, but more regular Democrats vote in the regular elections than in the Primaries.
