The San Ramon Police Department is asking drivers to continue to seek alternative routes to northbound San Ramon Valley Boulevard between Crow Canyon Road and Fostoria Drive as of Monday evening.
One northbound lane was reopened just before 5 p.m. Monday following a full closure of all northbound lanes which started that afternoon.
Police said on social media at 2:20 p.m. that the closure was spurred by a vehicle in the area near the border with Danville that had “hazardous materials leaking”, adding that “we expect this may be an extended closure”.
No further details were available as of 6 p.m. Monday.
