Caltrans is advising drivers about the overnight closure of a freeway on-ramp in Danville next week to accommodate emergency repair work from the transportation department.
The southbound on-ramp to I-680 from El Cerro Boulevard in Danville is set to be closed from 9 p.m. Jan. 21 to 5 a.m. Jan. 22. While only one overnight closure is expected, Caltrans officials noted that the closure could extend up to two nights if necessary.
“This work is necessary to address roadway and soundwall conditions that require immediate attention to maintain safety,” Caltrans officials said in a traffic advisory Wednesday. “Construction activity will include emergency roadway repairs, soundwall repairs, and related work.”
While the closure of the on-ramp is set to be short-lived, the overall repair work is planned to extend through June from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays, with overnight work as needed from 9 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Caltrans officials are asking drivers to allow for additional travel time and to proceed with caution through the work zone, and warning of potential delays and other disruptions.
“Some activities may result in increased noise, lighting, or traffic-related impacts,” Caltrans officials said. “Caltrans and its contractor will make every effort to minimize disruptions and to complete work safely and efficiently.”
