Tri-Valley REACH, a local nonprofit dedicated to building inclusive housing for adults with developmental disabilities, will be hosting its annual fundraising event where the organization celebrates its accomplishments.

The event, titled “REACH for Your Dreams”, will take place at the McGrail Vineyards in Livermore on Sept. 10. According to the nonprofit, the theme for this year’s event will be “Havana Nights” — inspired by the “energy, color and rhythm of the Caribbean”.

“We invite our community to come together for a cause that changes lives,” Carolyn Zalweski, Tri-Valley REACH board secretary, said in a press release. “Every ticket purchased and every sponsorship secured furthers our mission of unlocking independence for our current and future residents.”

Tri-Valley REACH was first established in 1990 by a group of family members of adults with developmental disabilities. Those family members, according to the nonprofit’s website, wanted their loved ones to be able to live locally and independently.

The organization has since continued its mission of “empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live vibrant, self-directed lives” by offering affordable housing opportunities starting as low as $350 per month, while also investing in enriching experiences for the intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) community.

“From hosting inclusive sporting and community events to supporting innovative programs like Chamba Collective entrepreneur workshops, and offering scholarships through the city of Pleasanton’s RADD Program (Recreation for Adults with Developmental Disabilities) we are committed to empowering individuals through both housing and opportunity,” the nonprofit stated in the press release.

Next month’s event is another extension of the nonprofits efforts to raise money to fund those efforts.

According to the press release, guests of the event will be able to enjoy gourmet food, local wine and stories from REACH residents whose “journeys embody resilience and independence”.

The nonprofit will also offer sponsorship opportunities that would provide a “meaningful way to make a lasting impact by demonstrating your support and care for the I/DD community”.
