Alamo Art Show
The Alamo Plaza Shopping Center will hold its semiannual Alamo Fine Art and Craft Show from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday-Sunday, May 6-8. The show will feature 70 artists exhibiting original works including paintings, bronze sculpture, pottery, jewelry, fiber art, fine glass, woodwork, mixed media and photography.
Open Studios Art Tour
Danville and the Alamo Danville Artists’ Society is hosting a free open studio art tour to showcase works of art while visiting the artists. Tour is 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, May 7-8. Spring Garden Tour and Faire
The Athenian School Parent Association in Danville is holding its third annual self-guided Garden Tour and Faire, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, May 7. Treasures of the Museum
The Museum of the San Ramon Valley will display “Treasures of the Museum,” with artifacts that the museum has never or rarely previously exhibited. They include collections of clothing, Indian tools, farm implements, prehistoric fossils and other items from the valley’s early history. The exhibit runs May 10-June18. Children’s Film Festival
The Danville International Children’s Film Festival will screen more than 75 films made for children and by children, Friday-Sunday, May 6-8, presented by the California Independent Film Festival Association and the Town of Danville, Films will be shown at the Village Theatre, Town Meeting Hall and Community Center, all on Front Street in downtown Danville. Play readings
The 10th Anniversary Playwrights’ Theater series will present “E.G.O.: The Passions of Eugene Gladstone O’Neill,” by Jo Morello as a staged reading at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 15, in the Old Barn at Tao House. The Contra Costa Crisis Center in Walnut Creek will begin a free class to train new volunteer hotline counselors on June 6. Volunteers, who must be 21, work one four-hour shift each week, providing emotional support to callers who are abused, depressed, grieving, suicidal, homeless or mentally ill. Search and Rescue
The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team needs volunteer members to respond to missing person incidents, disasters and other critical incidents. Team members are on call 24/7 year round. The program provides required training including wilderness traveling, first aid, map and compass, tracking disaster response and search skills, and may additionally include special training for canine, equestrian, technical, mountain bike or other rescue skills. Trails Maintenance
East Bay Trail Dogs is an all-volunteer group that has built, repaired and helped maintain single-track trails in the East Bay Regional Park District, the Mt.
