Editor:

I do not agree with Art Mijares (“Oakley man fights to take the devil out of the mountain,” May 27) that we should change the name of Mount Diablo. Get over it. Your fear of the Devil is taking over and winning – where’s the faith?

Not to mention that “Mt. Diablo” is a survey point of California – along with Humboldt and San Bernardino. “Because of its prominent location, Mt. Diablo has been used by a variety of state and federal agencies as the location for important horizontal control monuments. Some of these agencies include the Department of the Navy, the California Department of Natural Resources and the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey (now the National Geodetic Survey).”

I say leave well enough alone. It’s all about spirit – a name is just a name!

Facial features stolen, too

Editor:

In response to Streetwise, June 3: I was once a victim of total identity theft. My Social Security number, drivers license, credit card number, and even my facial features, hairstyle and eye glasses were take from me, and used to run up large charges in the United Kingdom on my credit card. Fortunately, my credit card company became suspicious and alerted me.

I was also reportedly seen in Sacramento, Washington, D.C., and in a Hofbrau Garten in Munich, Germany, even though I had been to none of those places.
