San Ramon Regional Medical Center is hosting a free health seminar next week on “Controlling Your Blood Pressure” presented by an internal medicine specialist and a dietitian.

One in every four American adults has high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. It is a dangerous condition because it makes the heart work too hard and increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. Hypertension is known as the “silent killer” because it often has no warning signs.

The seminar will discuss how to help prevent and control high blood pressure, when medication is appropriate, non-medical treatments, and when to see a doctor. The dietician will tell how diet can help to reduce blood pressure.

The seminar will take place 7-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, in the Southern Conference Room, 7777 Norris Canyon Road in San Ramon. Reservations are required. Call (800) 284-2878 or visit www.sanramonmedctr.com.
