Meghan Yetman led the Wolves to their third victory against Mission San Jose on Dec. 6 and scored 18 points by halftime to cross the 1,000-point mark in her successful basketball career.
Yetman needed only 14 points to achieve this milestone, a first for San Ramon Valley High School girl basketball players. She finished the game with 21 points to lead San Ramon to a 61-39 win.
“Meghan has been playing since third grade. Her greatest basketball assets are her incredible speed and tremendous endurance,” said Coach Hans Delannoy. “Meghan plays any position I want her to. Meghan has incredible versatility paired with incredible intelligence and an insatiable competitive desire.”
Yetman also plays soccer and softball, he said, and she hopes to attend Occidental College.
On Dec. 9 the Lady Wolves won their fourth game of the season, beating Aragon-San Mateo, 54-43. Ashley Cheung led the Wolves with 13 points.
The Lady Mustangs lost a close game in the finals of the Lady Bulldog Classic 49-47 against Alhambra on Dec. 3. This was the first loss for the Mustangs, then went 2-1. They were led by Carlyn Raphel, who scored 14 points. They rebounded with a victory Dec. 8 in Fortuna, Calif., beating Anderson 64-39 for their third win of the season. Raphel led the Mustangs to victory with 12 points. On Dec. 10, Monte Vista edged Fortuna 49-48 for their fourth win of the season.
Soccer
The Lady Wolves opened up their EBAL soccer season with a 2-1 victory over California. Jillian Armstrong scored the winning goal for the Wolves. On Dec. 10, they won their second game against Livermore to go 2-0 in the EBAL. The Lady Mustangs beat Berkeley 4-0 in a non-league game to go 1-1.
The San Ramon boys team lost to De La Salle, 2-1. Ross Wamlos had six saves for the Wolves.
