The San Ramon Police Department announced this week that it had arrested two suspects earlier in the month and recovered more than $45,000 in sunglasses allegedly stolen from City Center.
One suspect entered an unnamed local business and filled a garbage bag with designer sunglasses on June 11 according to police, who was located shortly after getting into a waiting vehicle and taken into custody along with the driver.
“This case is a great example of the impact proactive patrols and teamwork can have on crime in our community,” SRPD officials said on social media Tuesday. “Because officers were already in the area and responded quickly, a significant theft was solved within minutes, stolen property was recovered, and those responsible were taken into custody.”
SRPD attributed the speedy arrest and recovery of goods to the ongoing work of its Organized Retail Theft Suppression Team, with a corporal on that team who was on patrol at the time credited with quickly locating the suspect and working alongside other officers on patrol to make the arrests.
