iSold It 680 is scheduled to open Jan. 3 in Alamo Plaza, between High Tech Burrito and Alamo Palace, in the site formerly occupied by an antique store. The franchise is an auction drop-off store for items to be sold online on eBay.
Customers will leave items to be sold, and the business will take care of advertising them online, finding the highest bidder, and doing the packaging and mailing. “It takes the effort out of the eBay experience,” said co-owner Russ Emerson. “It’s all done online, with the physical location in Alamo.” He said he and his two partners, all from the East Bay, chose the Alamo location after being intrigued that there was no iSold It store in the area.
He explained that schools and other nonprofit organizations also can register so customers can opt to have the proceeds benefit them instead of collecting the profits themselves. Marketing materials explaining the program will be in the store.
