Four individuals will be honored at the Eugene O’Neill Foundation’s annual dinner Jan. 18, at the Crow Canyon Country Club.
The four honorees are Stephen Black, author of “Eugene O’Neill: Beyond Mourning and Tragedy”; Michael Uppendal, artistic director of the Namaste Theatre Company in Los Angeles; Wendy Cooper, former president of the foundation; and Glen Fuller, superintendent of the Tao House for 11 years.
Black will receive the Tao House Award for distinguished service to the American theater and for taking part in seminars previously arranged by the O’Neill Foundation. Uppendal, who has produced and directed plays in Oregon, San Francisco and New York, will be honored with the foundation’s artistic award. He has produced and directed six O’Neill plays at Tao House.
Cooper will receive the Open Gate Award, which is given to individuals who preserve the Tao House, while Fuller will receive the Freeman award, which recognizes leadership qualities in restoring and preserving the Tao House.
