Danville police investigating a case of identity theft arrested a local man after he used a stolen debit card at the Cache Creek Casino in Brooks, Calif. Sgt. Ron Bradley said the theft was reported March 9, when the owner of the card learned that more than 12 withdrawals had been made, totaling more than $3,300. Initially, police suspected the card may have been taken at some point during the owner’s move from one house in Danville to another.
After it was determined that the card had been used at Cache Creek, police were able to track down the individual using the card. Bradley said Eric Pierson, 37, had not only reportedly used the card but had disputed his winnings at the casino and filled out a complaint card using his real name. Pierson, a neighbor of the victims, allegedly stole mail from the homeowner that contained the debit card.
Pierson has been charged with possession of stolen property, possession of dangerous drugs and a parole violation. He may face additional charges from Yolo County related to the use of the stolen debit card, said Bradley.
