Trees throughout the area had red ribbons tied around them, and students dressed in red and did other activities to encourage drug prevention in their schools during Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 21-29. The drug prevention week commemorates the ultimate sacrifice made by Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena who died at the hands of drug traffickers in Mexico while fighting the battle against illegal drugs.
