St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Danville is gearing up its bicycle workshop for the holiday season and is looking for used bikes in working order, especially teen and adult size. Its volunteers will safety check the bikes, add helmets, then donate them to folks who need them, through the Adopt-A-Family programs of Monument Crisis Center and the Salvation Army in Concord.

Many families that receive these bikes use them as their primary means of transportation. Last year a crew of volunteers refurbished more than 160 bikes.

Bikes can be dropped off at St. Timothy’s, 1550 Diablo Road, just east of Green Valley Road. Turn on Clydesdale Drive and take the second right into the parking lot. Bikes can be left near Noah’s Ark Preschool against the building. Donation receipts will be available. Bikes must be received by Nov. 30.

Volunteers to work on the bikes are also welcome. Questions can be directed to Tania Hanson-De Young at taniahd@sbcglobal.net or call 837-4993, ext. 12.
