A chorus of holiday songs, laughter, cheers and smiles saturated the air during the Danville Oak Tree Lighting last week.
Hundreds of families and children gathered on Diablo Road to see the lighting of the Danville Oak Tree on Friday evening, Nov. 24, which was organized by the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce. The event began around 5:15 p.m.
The Danville police blocked off parts of Diablo Road so people could convene.
The San Ramon Valley High Chorus – directed by Ken Abrams – sang a medley of songs to spread the Christmas spirit.
Mayor Karen Stepper, wearing a soft, red Santa’s hat, gave a talk about being thankful for the many opportunities available to Danville residents. And Father Christmas, with his white beard and wooden staff, and the Danville Snow Angel, wearing a white winged gown and holding a wand, announced the lighting of the tree around 6:15 p.m.
Afterward, the attendees flocked downtown to visit the gaily decorated shops and the Christmas exhibit at the Museum of the San Ramon Valley.
