The San Ramon Valley Unified School District Board of Education unanimously approved the conceptual design and funding for 22 additional parking spaces at Tassajara Hills Elementary School in Danville at its meeting earlier this month. The lot is located along the north side of the school’s property.
Tassajara currently has 63 parking stalls for an enrollment of 720 students and 31 teaching stations. This is below the state guideline of 2.25 times the number of teaching stations, which would require 70 parking spaces. The school has no off-site parking, and the shortage of spaces is causing parking and traffic congestion, as well as impacting fire lanes.
The construction cost for the project is $185,000, with additional costs bringing it to $250,000, according to the district.
