Three young males allegedly threw rocks and punches at a juvenile late Friday evening on Railroad Avenue in Danville, said Police Sgt. Troy Craig.
Following the incident, police found and arrested two of the suspects on charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
“We are currently having this case reviewed by the District Attorney for prosecution,” Craig said.
Three male youths chased a minor on foot at 11:30 p.m., Friday, May 4, on Railroad Avenue near Iron Horse Plaza. The suspects and the victim were all headed to the same party outside of Danville, according to reports. The three had been threatening the victim, who was trying to avoid confrontation. The anger escalated and prompted them to physically harm him, police said.
Two of the suspects, juveniles, were from Danville and Alamo. The third, 18, was from Pittsburg, Craig said.
“They got involved in a verbal confrontation,” he said. “They did not like each other for whatever reasons.”
The three punched and hurled rocks at the victim. They also wanted to take his wallet. The victim ran, tripping and falling, to the Burger King on Front Street and told the restaurant manager he was in trouble. The manager took him in and locked him inside the building, police said. The manager then called the victim’s parents, who called the police about the incident the following day.
The suspects fled the scene but still hovered in the area, Craig said. Police Officer Mike Ireland saw them ducking in the bushes, made contact and took down their information.
Police officers Ian Hebert and Ireland made the connection with the assault and contacted the 18-year-old, who was taken to the Martinez Detention Facility, and one of the suspected minors, who was taken to Juvenile Hall. Police are still trying to locate the other youth who was allegedly involved, Craig said.
