The Bob Vincent Tennis Challenge, an annual senior Tuffs vs. Teens contest, was held last Thursday at San Ramon Valley High School. The Tuffs’ symbol is tennis rackets equipped with cane handles.

Play was approximately 20 matches, with 19 Tuffs and 30 teens, and the youths won about 60 percent of the games, said Schnittker. The event was begun by the late Bob Vincent, San Ramon Valley’s first tennis coach, as well as a math and science teacher, and founder of the Tuffs.

“Bob Vincent is a legend,” said Schnittker. “He was just a beloved man.” After the matches, the two generational groups mingled and ate sandwiches. Players each donated $5 to help finance the high school tennis team.
