The 25 members of the 16th class of Leadership San Ramon Valley were honored June 7 in ceremonies that culminate the 10-month Leadership program. The course is designed to give participants an historical perspective and in-depth look at the issues facing the community and to sharpen their leadership and management skills as well.

The 10 monthly day-long sessions began in September and discussed a variety of topics germane to the dynamics of the San Ramon Valley, such as education, the economy, local and state government, regional planning, community economics and cultural arts.

Speakers and panel members for these sessions included current elected officials and experts in their fields of study. The program also assigns fieldwork, which brings the participants one-on-one with the activities and issues within the community.

Leadership San Ramon Valley’s Class of 2006 teamed with the city of San Ramon and 2nd Wind Athletics to produce the inaugural “Run Like the Wind” half marathon and 5K running race in San Ramon on March 25. The two events attracted more than 1,100 runners, and raised proceeds in excess of $15,000, which will be distributed among a community organization and several school athletic booster clubs.
